BIO

Jun Fukukawa is a painter in Japan Tokyo.
After majoring in art history at university, Jun moved to France and began his career as an artist assigned to the new contemporary gallery, galerie Alain veinstein in 1991. From there, Jun exhibited at Salon découverte, an almost younger version of fiac, where Jun achieved such success that he competed for the top prize.
Jun paints the turtle he accidentally killed as a child, the face of the kind African woman he met in the foreign land of France, and the strange deity he encountered during an almost near-death experience. These works evoke primal experiences of sorrow, love, fear, and awe buried deep in people's memories.
